A Buzzing Success: Easter Menu Celebrates the Importance of Bees
Back
Today's Easter celebrations took on a unique and meaningful twist, as the kitchen team delivered a special menu dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of bees in our ecosystem.
Moving away from traditional Easter themes, the team embraced an educational approach, using the occasion to highlight how vital bees are to food production and the environment. The result was a thoughtfully curated menu inspired by honey and seasonal ingredients, delighting both children and adults alike.
The standout feature of the day was the use of locally sourced honey from “Wearside Honey,” produced by Marie, a valued member of the kitchen team who keeps her own beehives. Her contribution brought authenticity and a strong community connection to the event, showcasing the journey from hive to table.
The menu included Wearside Honey Roasted Ham, Posh Roasted Vegetable Quiche, and Baked Feta with Sesame Seeds and Honey Flatbread, alongside a selection of sides such as minted buttery potatoes, herby diced potatoes, honey roasted parsnips and carrots, and fresh greens. Desserts featured a delicious honey cake and a mini egg cheesecake, offering a balance of tradition and innovation.
Beyond the food, the experience was designed to educate and engage. Children were given the opportunity to learn about bees up close, with the team providing a genuine bee suit and samples of local honey. Even the smallest details, such as Easter-themed biscuit packaging, were carefully considered to create a memorable and immersive experience.
A special recognition goes to the kitchen team, whose dedication and enthusiasm brought the concept to life. Their efforts not only delivered an exceptional dining experience but also helped inspire a greater appreciation for protecting bees and supporting local producers.
Events like this demonstrate how food can be a powerful tool for education, connection, and positive change within the community.
