Students Rock the Stage in End-of-Term Musical Spectacular
Back
Students brought the term to a thrilling close with a series of outstanding performances of School of Rock – The Musical over the past three days, delighting audiences with their energy, talent and confidence.
This special one-hour adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Julian Fellowes and Glenn Slater’s hit musical showcased an impressive range of skills, including singing, dancing and acting, all set to a collection of catchy and high-energy songs. The production even featured a glitter ball lighting finale, adding an extra touch of excitement to an already vibrant show.
A standout performance came from Rebecca, who took on the lead role and delivered a truly memorable portrayal, supported brilliantly by the rest of the cast. Students from Years 7 through to Year 10 took part, demonstrating not only their talent but also their courage in performing in front of large audiences.
The story follows Dewey Finn, a passionate rock music enthusiast who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious private school. Through his unconventional teaching methods, he transforms his class into a talented rock band, preparing them to compete in the ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition in pursuit of his dream of becoming a rockstar.
Beyond the entertainment, the production highlighted the confidence-building opportunities that performing arts provide. Taking to the stage in front of a full audience is no small feat, and every student involved rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and dedication.
The school’s Drama Club, which runs every Thursday after school until 4:10pm, continues to play a vital role in nurturing this talent. With such a strong turnout this year, there is great anticipation that many newer members will step into leading roles in future productions.
The performances were a true celebration of creativity, teamwork and student achievement — a fantastic way to end the term on a high note.
