Oxclose Community Academy has received a ‘Good’ rating in all areas following a full Ofsted inspection in November 2024. The report reflects significant strengths across the Academy’s curriculum, pupil support, behaviour, leadership, and personal development provision.
Inspectors praised the school for being an inclusive and welcoming environment where students feel safe, valued and respected. Pupils were described as confident, polite and well-supported, with the school’s ethos - ‘value diversity, strive for excellence’ - clearly embedded in daily school life.
The curriculum was noted for its ambition and structure, with praise given to the way subjects are planned to help pupils build knowledge over time. Support for students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) was highlighted as a strong feature, and the recent introduction of modern foreign languages into the core Key Stage 4 offer was seen as a positive development.
The inspectors recognised a strong reading culture within the school, supported by dedicated library spaces and older students acting as reading mentors. Behaviour was described as calm and respectful, and the school’s approach to improving attendance - especially for disadvantaged pupils - was acknowledged as proactive and reflective.
In addition to academic progress, the school’s personal development programme was described as broad and inclusive, offering pupils a wide range of activities such as Girls Enjoying Maths, Rockin’ Readers, and The Great Oxclose Bake Off. The Academy’s annual Christmas event for elderly residents was highlighted as an example of student leadership and community engagement.
